Andorra Police Arrest 29th Drunk Motorbike Driver and Passenger in Easter Campaign

**Police in Andorra arrest 29th driver in breathalyser campaign, with passenger also detained after altercation**

Andorra la Vella police carried out a breathalyser check around 3am during the ongoing Easter school holiday campaign, leading to the detention of a 49-year-old motorbike driver and his 51-year-old passenger.

The driver tested positive for a high alcohol level and drugs. Officers recovered a small packet of cocaine he attempted to discard during the stop. Tests confirmed the substance, resulting in charges of a crime against collective safety due to driving under the influence of alcohol and toxics, plus a crime against public health for possession of a small amount of cocaine for personal use.

The passenger, previously arrested months ago for shoplifting a high-value jacket from a Meritxell Avenue store, intervened aggressively as police moved to detain the driver. She kicked an officer, pushed agents and insulted them, leading to charges of crimes against honour and against public function. Both individuals had prior police records, the driver's considerably longer with 28 previous detentions prior to this incident.

The pair spent the night and much of the morning in police custody before appearing in court. The woman received a suspended sentence via fast-track procedure and was released. The man, whose repeated offences prompted judicial frustration, was sent to La Comella prison that Sunday afternoon.

This marked the 29th driver arrest in the campaign, which features enhanced checks amid the holiday period regardless of weather conditions.
