Andorran Police Arrest Woman for €900 Theft, Drunk Driver, and Drug Smuggler

Police in Escaldes-Engordany arrested a 47-year-old woman on Thursday morning on suspicion of crimes against public function and against security in legal traffic. The detention followed an investigation into cash-handling irregularities at her workplace detected during April.

Initial inquiries indicate she allegedly took more than €900 from various cash payments. In some instances, she is said to have issued a receipt before cancelling the transaction. In others, she reportedly provided no receipt and kept the money directly.

The woman has appeared before a judge, and the probe remains open.

In a separate incident early Thursday, officers detained a 66-year-old man after he caused a material-damage crash in La Massana. Driving uphill along Avinguda del Ravell, he lost control of his vehicle and collided with a parked car on the right side of the road. A breath test showed a blood alcohol level of 1.87 g/l.

Over recent days, police also arrested a 34-year-old man at the Franco-Andorran border while entering the country in possession of 0.56 grams of cocaine.
