Andorra la Vella Council to Report Driver for Ramming Parking Barrier

The Andorra la Vella council will file a police report over damage caused to a barrier at the Parc Central car park after a driver forced it open to avoid paying the parking fee.

The incident occurred on Sunday around 4pm at the exit facing Carrer Bonaventura Armengol. A vehicle rammed the left-hand exit barrier until it gave way, allowing the driver to leave at speed without paying. Witnesses described the car as Spanish-registered, and council officials later confirmed they had fully identified it.

Police received the alert shortly after 4.05pm and dispatched a patrol to the scene to gather details and assess the situation. Operaris from the council quickly secured the damaged barrier, which had to be dismantled for repairs, leaving that exit lane temporarily out of service. The damage proved less severe than first feared, and the barrier was restored without major disruption to operations.

Despite the minor repairs, the council views the act as uncivil behaviour that demands action. It plans to report the incident as a presumed criminal offence against communal property. Officials stressed the need to protect public facilities and services, ensuring police take appropriate steps.
