Andorra Police Arrest Tourists for Drugs, Drunk Drivers, Hotel Brawl, and Hit-and-Run

Police in Andorra arrested three tourists at the Riu Runer border crossing with Spain early Thursday morning after finding small amounts of drugs during entry checks. The group—two men aged 39 and 37, and a 31-year-old woman—carried 0.5 grams of cocaine, 1.8 grams of heroin, and 4.1 grams of tusi, respectively. All three face charges of introducing toxic drugs into the country.

Authorities noted that such minor drug seizures continue at border points, especially Riu Runer, with most operations this week concentrated near the Spanish frontier.

Separate road safety enforcement resulted in four arrests for driving over the legal alcohol limit. Cases included a 71-year-old man who crashed into a vehicle in an Encamp parking lot, causing material damage and testing at 1.79 grams per litre of blood; a 32-year-old non-resident driving the wrong way with 1.91 grams per litre; a 31-year-old tourist at 2.33 grams per litre; and a 40-year-old man at 1.44 grams per litre.

Police reported additional Friday arrests from an early-morning incident at an Ordino hotel, where a 51-year-old man and 37-year-old non-resident woman assaulted each other during a dispute. Both now face charges of offences against physical and moral integrity.

Officers also detained a 29-year-old woman linked to Monday's pedestrian collision on the CG-2 in Incles. Her downhill vehicle struck a 10-year-old boy in a marked crossing. She tested negative for alcohol and drugs, stayed within the speed limit, but faces serious negligence charges for the injuries. The child was airlifted to Nostra Senyora de Meritxell hospital and later transferred to Barcelona for treatment.
