Andorran Court Convicts Two Men for Damaging Car in Photo Stunt

An Andorran court convicted two young men yesterday for causing damage to a parked private vehicle while climbing on it for a photograph in December 2021, acquitting a third defendant.

The Tribunal de Corts ruling addressed dents valued at €3,133 to a neighbour's car in a parking lot. One defendant was cleared due to insufficient evidence of involvement. The other two were found guilty of minor intentional damage: one received a 45-day conditional nighttime curfew, while the second—a minor at the time—faced a 24-hour home confinement as a disciplinary measure.

Prosecutors outlined how the group posed on the car's roof for a picture. The defendants acknowledged climbing aboard briefly but claimed no intent to harm. The owner spotted the damage the following day.

Judges rejected linking compensation to the vehicle's sale price, deeming neither the full extent of damage proven nor its impact on the final selling value. Civil liability remains unresolved for a future phase.

Defence arguments questioned whether all reported damage arose from the incident and contested the repair costs. The court had heard the case last May.
