Police De-escalate Arinsal Car Barricade After Partner Shatters Windshield

Police intervened in Arinsal early Monday after a woman barricaded herself in her family vehicle during a dispute with her partner, who cracked the windshield with a blow.

Authorities received an alert around 1am on 20 July 2026 from the woman, who reported that her partner intended to assault her. Officers responded to the Ribasol complex, where they found her locked inside the car. The man had followed her to the underground car park and struck the windshield, causing it to shatter.

A neighbour from a nearby apartment building had also contacted the emergency line 110, noting the man's visible intoxication and agitation following an argument. Police arrived to de-escalate the situation. The woman showed signs of significant anxiety, leading officers to summon medical services, while the man refused care despite minor knuckle injuries.

No previous incidents involving the couple appeared in police records. Both provided differing accounts of the argument. When offered the chance to file complaints, neither pursued charges.

Acting as mediators, officers calmed tensions on site. No arrests occurred, and the matter ended without further action beyond the vehicle damage and minor injuries. Police may retain a record of the intervention for future reference.
