Police in Escaldes-Engordany arrested a 42-year-old man early Sunday morning on suspicion of domestic violence after he allegedly assaulted his ex-partner at their shared home.

Officers responded to the residence following a report of the incident. Upon arrival, they confirmed that the woman had sustained injuries, leading to the man's detention as the presumed perpetrator of a domestic abuse offence.

The case marks one of four arrests over the weekend by Andorra's police force for offences against public safety and physical or moral integrity. In addition to the domestic violence incident, three drivers were taken into custody for operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol.

Those drivers included two men aged 61 and 22, who recorded blood alcohol levels of 1.45 g/l and 1.79 g/l respectively, and a woman with a level of 1.14 g/l.

No further details have been released about the victims' conditions or the man's court appearance. Police have not commented on the circumstances leading to the assault.
