Officers detained a 40-year-old man in La Massana on Sunday midday as the alleged perpetrator of a public health crime. His partner, in a state of anxiety, contacted police after discovering medication she suspected to be narcotics. She handed over 10 blister packs containing 45 tablets of 5 mg methadone hydrochloride. When questioned, the man could not provide a coherent explanation for possessing the substance, which police confirmed is a synthetic opioid requiring a medical prescription.
In a related case, officers responded to a report of a stolen backpack containing computer equipment from a restaurant in Pas de la Casa on Saturday afternoon. Hours later, a tip placed the suspects in an Andorra la Vella car park. Two patrol units identified a couple inside a vehicle and recovered two laptops, headphones, a cologne bottle, and chargers matching the stolen items. The pair were arrested on suspicion of theft.
Early Saturday morning, during a preventive breathalyser check authorised by the Ministry of Justice and Interior, police stopped a 24-year-old driver who recorded a blood alcohol level of 1.80 g/l. He was taken into custody.
