Andorra Firefighters Perform Three Helicopter Rescues in Massana and Canillo

Andorra's firefighters conducted three helicopter rescues across the Massana and Canillo parishes on Sunday, airlifting a cyclist with chest trauma, two disoriented hikers and an elderly person who fell ill.

The first call came in at 12:50pm for a young tourist who crashed his bike at the Pal Arinsal Bike Park circuit in La Massana. The rider suffered a chest injury from the impact and required evacuation to Meritxell Hospital, according to the shift chief speaking to Diari d'Andorra.

While en route to drop off the cyclist, crews received a second alert around 1:45pm for a pair of hikers, aged 21 and 23, who lost their way on a route near Tristaina Lake in Canillo. Neither was a resident of the Principat. Rescuers used a helicopter to extract them from the area but did not transport them to hospital.

The third operation followed at Siscaró Lake near Vall d'Incles, also in Canillo, where an elderly individual suffered dizziness. Two rescuers and a paramedic attended the scene, airlifting the person to a health centre.

All those assisted were non-residents, and the shift chief highlighted the efficient handling of the back-to-back incidents amid busy midday activity in Andorra's outdoor areas. No updates on their conditions were available.
