Andorran police made several arrests over the weekend and early this week on charges ranging from drug possession and property damage to drunk driving and breaches of public order.
A 41-year-old man faces charges related to property damage and public health offences after kicking and cracking the glass door of a nightclub, causing more than €800 in damage. The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday morning. Officers located him minutes after the venue reported it and found 0.7 grams of cocaine hidden on him during the stop.
Police at the Runer river border control detained a 23-year-old female tourist attempting to enter the country late Monday night as a suspected author of a public health offence. Agents discovered she was carrying 2.1 grams of cocaine.
Drunk driving arrests totalled six, including two involved in minor collisions. On Friday night, a crash at kilometre marker 12.350 on the CG-2 in Canillo involved two Andorran-registered vehicles. A 47-year-old driver tested at 2.19 grammes of alcohol per litre of blood and was arrested. Another incident unfolded early Sunday on the CG-1 at kilometre marker 5 in Andorra la Vella, where a 36-year-old local man lost control of his Andorran-registered car. He registered 1.76 grammes per litre. The remaining four arrests—a woman and three men aged 36 to 65, one a tourist—had readings from 0.94 to 2.27 grammes per litre.
Police also arrested a 30-year-old non-resident man early Sunday in La Massana on suspicion of offences against public function, honour, and liberty. Officers responded to reports of him acting aggressively toward family members at a home. He resisted violently, attempting to assault them, hurling insults, and issuing death threats, while also violating an expulsion order.
Additional detentions included a 49-year-old man in Andorra la Vella for failing to report to the Penitentiary Centre on multiple occasions to serve a prison sentence, constituting an offence against the administration of justice. A 48-year-old man was held in Escaldes-Engordany for driving with a suspended licence, another public function violation.
