Andorra Sees 4.5% Drop in July Visitors but Overnight Stays Rise 5.4%

Andorra recorded 883,406 visitors in July, down 4.5% from 924,738 the previous year, according to Statistics Department figures. Overnight guests rose 5.4% to 403,322, making up 45.7% of arrivals and adding 20,783 more than in July 2025. Day-trippers dropped sharply by 11.5% to 480,084, a reduction of 62,115 people and 54.3% of the total.

Spanish visitors fell 3.3% to 392,280, with their day trips declining 15.3%; their overnight stays grew 3.5%. French arrivals decreased 7.8% to 85,361—the source notes a conflicting figure of 382,332, but department data aligns with the lower number—with day visits down 11.7% and overnight numbers up 8.8%. Visitors from other countries increased 4.3% to 49,590 overall, with a 10.8% rise in overnight guests to support the trend.

Overnight guests stayed longer on average, at 2.9 nights compared to 2.6 previously: 2.9 for Spaniards, 2.7 for French, and 3.0 for others. Hotels captured 73.8% of nights at 854,821, up from 67%; tourist rentals took 11.8% with 137,216. By parish, Andorra la Vella led with 297,533 nights, followed by La Massana at 256,987, Canillo at 199,231, and Escaldes-Engordany at 198,550.

Shopping remained the top purpose at 49.6% overall and 84.6% for day-trippers (5.6% of whom were in transit), but overnight visitors prioritized nature (31.4%), wellness (16.4%), and shopping (13.5%).

Vehicle entries dipped 1.8% to 375,016, with French border traffic down 6.6% to 121,212 and Spanish up 0.6% to 253,804. Year-to-date through July, entries fell 5.4% to 2,233,524. Over the past 12 months, visitors totaled 8.95 million, down 2.1%, with tourists up 5.1% offsetting an 8% drop in day-trippers. Officials point to investments in nature sites like Pont Tibetà and Mirador del Roc del Quer, trails, lakes, cycling, adventures, Caldea, cuisine, festivals, and events as key to attracting higher-value stays.
