Andorra Confirms Two Residents Safe in Colombia After Deadly 7.4 Quake

Andorra's government has declared the situation of its citizens and residents in Colombia "normalised" following the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck the Andean country on Monday.

Foreign Affairs officials confirmed on Thursday that all 21 people on the Traveler Registry remain safe, maintaining the figures reported on Wednesday. This includes one Andorran with permanent residency in Colombia who will stay, two individuals en route back to the Principat, and 18 others—mostly residents—continuing their trips outside the hardest-hit areas like Valle del Cauca. No new requests for repatriation have emerged, allowing authorities to consider the matter under control, though they note the possibility of additional unregistered nationals or residents.

Minister Guillem Casal had previously stated during Wednesday's post-Council of Ministers briefing that the ministry contacted everyone on the list, with no health issues or urgent returns needed. He reiterated the registry's value in emergencies and warned of unlisted Andorrans in Colombia.

On the ground, search efforts continue for missing people amid building collapses, with aftershocks prompting evacuations. Vivian Janeth Cifuentes, vice-president of Colombianos en Andorra, is coordinating support from Cali. Her group, initially providing meals, now assembles aid kits with diapers, cleaning supplies, and tents for those displaced from homes at risk of collapse. "Water and food are guaranteed; now we need items for care, cleaning, and shelter," she said. Hundreds have been evacuated, particularly in southern areas.

The latest toll stands at over 260 deaths, around 3,500 injuries, and 500 missing, 72 hours after the initial tremor centred near San José del Palmar in Chocó at 96 km depth. Destruction persists in Cali, Pereira, Manizales, and Bogotá, with airport closures and international aid arriving from Spain, the US, Mexico, El Salvador, and the Vatican—despite some rejected rescue teams.

Creu Roja Andorrana has launched a fundraising campaign via bank accounts or Bizum for victims. Andorra Telecom continues waiving call charges to Colombia, supporting the local community of about 1,760, including naturalized citizens. The consular emergency line is +376 324 292. Casal offered condolences and solidarity to Colombian authorities. No specific Andorran aid has been approved, pending budget and global mechanisms.
