A 15-year-old boy was airlifted to Hospital Nostra Senyora de Meritxell on Wednesday afternoon after falling from his bike at the Bike Park in Canillo, near the El Forn area.
Firefighters received the alert at 1:21 p.m. and dispatched a helicopter carrying two members of the Mountain Rescue Group (GRM) and one paramedic firefighter. On arrival, the rescuers stabilized the youth, who was complaining of severe pain in his hip area after sustaining a heavy blow to the side of his hip.
The team immobilized him before airlifting him to the hospital for further assessment and tests to determine the extent of his injuries. The boy, a resident of Andorra, was riding through the bike park facilities when the accident occurred shortly before 3 p.m.
