Peru's Honorary Consul in Andorra Plans Second Itinerant Passport Session

Jaume Tàpies, Peru's honorary consul in Andorra, is organizing a second itinerant passport issuance session this December to assist local Peruvian residents and avoid trips to Barcelona for the service.

The first event, held roughly six weeks ago, proved very successful, with about 50 passports issued, Tàpies reported. Even with announcements shared via social media and Peruvian community WhatsApp groups in Andorra, some residents missed the information and later sought help. "There were people who weren't aware," he said. "Despite posting on networks and group WhatsApps, some didn't catch it, and they've asked to get their passports, so we're setting up another itinerant session in December. Those who couldn't come last time can attend then, and about 40 days later, they'll have their passports ready."

Tàpies rejected social media suggestions from some Peruvian residents for a full consulate like Barcelona's, citing Andorra's under-1,000 Peruvian population. He compared it to honorary consulates in Spanish cities including Vigo, Salamanca, and Mallorca, which manage larger groups without fixed offices.
