Man Arrested After Knife Injury in Santa Coloma Street Brawl

Police arrested a man after he wounded a bystander with a knife during a street fight in Santa Coloma. The clash took place around 5pm on Tuesday along Carrer Roureda Tapada, beside the Albó residence, which provides care for people with mental health conditions.

The fight arose from an earlier argument between two men. The suspect drew a six-centimetre knife—within legal carrying limits—and cut a third man who had been accompanying one of the fighters. The bystander stayed out of the dispute until he intervened to break up the pair, sustaining the injury between his hand and arm.

A worker at the Albó residence provided immediate first aid before paramedics transported the injured man by ambulance to Nostra Senyora de Meritxell Hospital. Residents alerted authorities, leading to a rapid response with three police patrols and two ambulances, one from the SUM emergency unit.

The suspect ran from the scene but was soon located at his nearby residence after others involved named him and his address. He faces charges of causing injury with a weapon and is due before judicial authorities. Officers are still examining the background of the dispute.

No updates have emerged on the victim's health or the identities of those involved. The incident stayed on the street outside the facility.
