Man Arrested After Knife Injury in Santa Coloma Street Brawl

Police have arrested a man after he wounded a third individual with a knife during a street brawl in Santa Coloma. The incident occurred around 5pm on Tuesday on Carrer Roureda Tapada, next to the Albó residence, a facility providing care for people with mental health issues.

The altercation stemmed from a prior dispute between two men. One of them brandished a knife with a six-centimetre blade—a length that falls within legal carry limits—and injured a bystander during the fight. The victim had accompanied one of the initial combatants but remained uninvolved until he stepped between the pair to separate them, suffering a cut between his hand and arm.

A staff member at the Albó residence offered initial first aid before the man was taken by ambulance to Nostra Senyora de Meritxell Hospital for further treatment. Neighbours' reports prompted a response from three police patrol cars and two ambulances, including one from the SUM emergency service.

The suspect fled but was quickly tracked to his nearby home, where other involved parties identified him and gave his address. He now faces charges of inflicting injuries with a weapon and will appear before judicial authorities. Police continue to investigate the confrontation's circumstances.
