Construction Worker Injured by Falling Crane Bars in Canillo

A 39-year-old construction worker injured in a workplace accident on the Montaup road in Canillo was transferred to Barcelona’s Vall d’Hebron University Hospital for further examination of facial injuries.

The incident occurred yesterday morning during loading and unloading operations involving metal pieces at the parish worksite. Material fell accidentally onto the man, causing multiple facial injuries that required more detailed assessment outside Andorra, according to sources at Nostra Senyora de Meritxell Hospital.

Emergency services received the alert around 8:45am. Police and firefighters responded to the scene near the G2 road, providing initial care before Servei d’Urgències Mèdiques (SUM) teams assumed responsibility. After on-site treatment and evaluation at the local hospital, where the extent of the facial trauma was confirmed, Andorran emergency services arranged the patient’s transfer by helicopter to the Barcelona facility.

Canillo traffic police closed the road entrance and rerouted vehicles to an adjacent street during the response.
