Firefighters in Andorra airlifted a 500-kilogram horse injured in the Agols area of Encamp, along with a hiker suffering severe abdominal pain, while a separate road crash left a cyclist hospitalised with injuries.
The horse rescue took place near the Agols refuge, where the animal sustained a rear-end injury and could not move. Two members of the Mountain Rescue Group and a government veterinarian provided on-site treatment before helicoptering it to its stable for further care, which may include surgery or medication.
In the Jucla lake area, emergency teams assisted a young woman with acute abdominal pain and airlifted her to hospital.
Police also handled a collision that afternoon at kilometre 9.6 on the Coll d'Ordino road, where a motorcycle with an Andorran plate struck a 52-year-old cyclist, who required hospital treatment.
