Firefighters in Andorra rescued a 500-kilogram horse injured in the Agols area of Encamp on Sunday, using a helicopter to airlift it after the animal suffered a rear-end injury.
The alert came in around 10:30am near the Agols refuge. The horse could not move on its own, prompting a response from two members of the Mountain Rescue Group and a government veterinarian. After on-site treatment, rescuers flew the animal to its stable for further veterinary care, which could involve surgery, medication or other measures.
The same day, firefighters mobilised to the Jucla lake area to assist a young woman with severe abdominal pain. She received aid and was airlifted to hospital.
Police reported a separate road crash that afternoon at kilometre 9.6 on the Coll d'Ordino road. A motorcycle with an Andorran plate collided with a 52-year-old cyclist, who was hospitalised with injuries.
