Key Points

  • Season opens 14 March for Engolasters pond and Gran Valira catch-and-release; 4 April for other rivers; 6 June for ponds/lakes.
  • Rules unchanged: min sizes 20-30cm, daily limits 2-8 fish; catch-and-release mandatory in zones.
  • Permit fees stable: €64 full season for locals, €150 non-residents; daily/tourist options available.
  • Physical licenses eliminated; carry digital payment receipt, renew via e-Tràmits platform.

Andorra's Fishing Monitoring Commission has approved the 2026 fishing season calendar, confirming a 14 March start for the intensive stocked pond at Engolasters and the catch-and-release section of the Gran Valira river.

The decision came during the commission's ordinary session on Friday morning, presided over by Environment, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Guillem Casal. Participants reviewed the 2025 season and agreed on guidelines for the year ahead, which will be detailed in a forthcoming ministerial order published in the Official Bulletin of the Principality of Andorra (BOPA).

Fishing in other rivers and river stretches opens on 4 April, while ponds, lakes and remaining still waters begin on 6 June. Closing dates vary by site, with some Gran Valira sections ending on 15 November.

Fishing zones, minimum sizes and daily retention limits stay the same. Certain stretches of the Valira del Nord and Valira d’Orient require a 30-centimetre minimum length, allowing up to eight fish per angler. Others impose a 20-centimetre limit with a two-fish cap. Catch-and-release zones require all fish to be returned alive.

Permit fees remain unchanged: €64 for the full season for Andorrans and residents under 65, and €150 for non-residents. Tourist daily and three-day permits, including catch-and-release options, are also stable, with costs covering contributions to the Andorran Hunting and Fishing Federation (FACIP) and section permits.

A key update eliminates the need for a physical fishing licence, thanks to new digital systems for identity verification. Anglers must instead carry the personal, non-transferable payment receipt as proof of their season permit—for Andorrans, residents and non-residents alike. Renewals are possible via the e-Tràmits platform (www.e-tramits.ad) using an electronic certificate.
