Andorra's Fishing Monitoring Commission approved the 2026 fishing season calendar during its ordinary session on Friday morning, setting an opening date of 14 March for the intensive stocked pond at Engolasters and the catch-and-release stretch of the Gran Valira river.

The meeting, chaired by Environment, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Guillem Casal, included a review of the 2025 season and agreement on guidelines for the coming year. These directives will soon appear in a ministerial order in the Official Bulletin of the Principality of Andorra (BOPA). Fishing in remaining rivers and river stretches begins 4 April, while ponds, lakes and other still waters open 6 June. Closures differ by location, including 15 November for certain Gran Valira sections.

Regulations on fishing areas, minimum lengths and daily retention limits remain unchanged. Some stretches of the Valira del Nord and Valira d’Orient rivers require a 30-centimetre minimum size with up to eight fish retained per angler, while others set a 20-centimetre limit and two-fish maximum. Catch-and-release areas mandate releasing all fish alive.

Permit prices are stable at €64 for the full season for Andorrans and residents under 65, and €150 for non-residents. Tourist daily and three-day options, including catch-and-release, continue unchanged, with fees incorporating contributions to the Andorran Hunting and Fishing Federation (FACIP) and section permits.

Digital verification now replaces the physical fishing licence. Anglers must carry the personal, non-transferable payment receipt as proof of their season permit, applicable to Andorrans, residents and non-residents alike. Renewals are available through the e-Tràmits platform (www.e-tramits.ad) with an electronic certificate.
