  • 217 statistical activities planned for 2026, awaiting final approval post-law publication.
  • New data collection: university research, air/public transport, sustainable mobility, public finances.
  • Improvements based on 4-year feedback, council input, international recommendations.

The Andorran Statistics Council, chaired by Minister of the Presidency, Economy, Labour and Housing Conxita Marsol, approved the 2026 Statistical Programme on Thursday, outlining 217 statistical activities for the year.

The plan will receive final government approval once the new Law on the 2026-2029 Statistical Plan—passed by the General Council on 11 December—is published in the Official Gazette (BOPA).

This year's programme introduces fresh data collection in key areas, including university research and innovation, air transport, public transport usage, sustainable mobility, public finances, and monetary and financial statistics. It also covers operations of the Citizen's Reasoning service and requests for official statistical information, aiming to enhance data coverage and quality.

Developers drew on feedback from the past four years, incorporating improvements from annual compliance reports, input from the Statistics Council itself, recommendations by international bodies, and work by the statistics department staff.

Under the Law on the Public Statistics Function, multi-year statistical plans must be implemented through annual programmes. The Statistics Council serves as a consultative body for social participation, bringing together data providers, producers and users to support the country's statistical institutions and ensure effective governance of official statistics.

The council, which meets at least once a year in ordinary session, currently comprises 18 members representing the General Council, parishes, government, Andorran Financial Authority, parapublic entities, Chamber of Commerce, trade unions, employer groups, research bodies, civil society and the scientific community.
