The Andorran Data Protection Agency (APDA) and the University of Andorra (UdA) signed a collaboration agreement on Tuesday morning to establish a framework for student training placements and external academic internships at the agency's premises.

APDA director Jèssica Obiols and UdA rector Juli Minoves formalized the pact, which has an initial five-year term and can be extended tacitly for equal periods. Under the agreement, the APDA will provide one to three simultaneous placements each academic year in key areas such as legal services, inspections, institutional communications, and administrative-economic operations.

The initiative seeks to immerse UdA students in the practical aspects of data protection, an area tied to fundamental rights and regulatory compliance. It also aims to cultivate a culture of privacy and responsible data use within academic environments.

For the APDA, the deal advances its efforts in education, research, and knowledge dissemination on personal data protection, helping to build institutional and societal practices rooted in accountability, transparency, and respect for core rights. The UdA strengthens its focus on practice-oriented higher education, critical thinking, and ties with Andorra's public institutions.

The agreement marks a further step in enhancing synergies between the two organizations to benefit the academic community and Andorran society as a whole.
