Andorra la Vella council has awarded a contract worth 15,869.27 euros to P.I.M.E SA for supplying and installing about ten new surveillance cameras in Plaça del Poble, as published in this week's *Butlletí Oficial del Principat d’Andorra* (BOPA).

The cameras will cover main entrances and sensitive spots including the stage and green areas, operating around the clock with live feeds to the Traffic Department's control room. Officials aim to detect and address uncivil behavior, from vandalism to breaches of municipal rules such as failing to pick up after pets.

This initiative follows successful use of cameras elsewhere in the parish, notably at the Centre Ciutat car park where 15 additional devices were recently announced. Footage from there allowed the Municipal Security Unit to identify those responsible for damaging an elevator, which has been out of service for nearly two months. Recordings captured the individuals forcing doors and crawling along the floor to escape. Traffic agents later intercepted them and verified their identities. Attempts to contact the suspects by phone drew no response, and the council plans to file a formal complaint in coming days. Repair costs exceed 8,000 euros.

Councillor for Traffic and Parking Xavier Surana noted that such evidence has proven vital for holding offenders accountable. The move underscores the parish's broader push to enhance public space monitoring after recent incidents.
