Police in Andorra arrested a local couple early Thursday morning in El Tarter after a routine breathalyser stop turned into refusal, resistance, and assault on officers.

A 32-year-old male resident was initially pulled over in the early hours for an administrative alcohol test, which showed a positive result below the criminal limit. Officers left his vehicle parked nearby. Soon after, he drove off again, prompting a second stop. This time, he refused the test, repeatedly disobeyed instructions, and resisted detention. He faces charges of an offence against collective safety and against public authority.

During the intervention, his 32-year-old female companion assaulted the officers and was detained on suspicion of an offence against public authority.

Police reported several other arrests this week. At the Riu Runer border, officers stopped two tourists on drug possession charges: a 23-year-old man on Monday afternoon carrying 2.44 grams of cocaine, and a 46-year-old man early Tuesday morning with 0.08 grams of the substance.

In La Massana on Wednesday night, a 45-year-old man was arrested for an offence against physical and moral integrity after assaulting his partner at their shared home.

Four more drivers, aged 20 to 35, faced detention in recent days for driving under the influence, with blood alcohol levels between 1.22 and 2.05 grams per litre.
