Andorra's police force and the parish of Canillo are mourning the death of Jaume Rossa Naudí, a retired officer and community figure who passed away on Wednesday at the age of 99.

The Corps of Police announced the loss with deep sadness, noting that Rossa Naudí was part of its 7th intake in 1963, one of the earliest modern groups of recruits. He played a key role in consolidating the force's structures during a formative period for policing in the principality. The police expressed condolences to his family, friends, and former colleagues, thanking him for years of service marked by dedication and respect for the institution. They also paid tribute to his pioneering generation's contributions.

In Canillo, where Rossa Naudí was born in 1927, locals remembered him as one of the "wells of wisdom" of the parish and the country. After time in France, he returned and joined the police, channeling a family tradition of public service—though he avoided politics himself. His daughter, Bibiana, later served as a minister, the first female consul, and a general councillor.

Beyond policing, Rossa Naudí led Canillo's Association of the Elderly for many years and pursued woodworking as a devoted hobby. He carved wooden statues of the Virgin of Meritxell, with one on display at the Church of Sant Serni and molds preserved at the Canillo commune. He documented his life experiences in a book, *Vivències d’un canillenc*, published a couple of years ago by Editorial Anem for his grandchildren.

A wake will be held today from 4pm to 8pm at the Mereig funeral home in Canillo. His funeral mass takes place tomorrow at noon at the Church of Sant Serni, followed by burial.
