Police from Andorra's Technological Crimes Unit conducted the country's first training session this week on digital violence against women, including sexual violence in online spaces, for about eight professionals from the government's Policies for Equality department.

According to a police statement released today, the session provided technical staff with practical knowledge to handle cases where women face harms such as extortion, the distribution of real or fabricated intimate images, illegal access to email, social media accounts or bank details, identity impersonation, online harassment, defamation drives, mobile phone surveillance, location tracking, and threats through messaging apps.

Experts from the unit shared detection methods and guidance on securing evidence right away. Police emphasised that such materials are essential to assist victims, confirm incidents, and pinpoint perpetrators—ranging from acquaintances to online criminals.

The training prioritised ways to safeguard affected women and manage their digital security. Organised amid a worldwide surge in these offences, the effort seeks to strengthen victim support through coordination among all relevant government departments and services.
