Andorra Prioritizes Major School Reforms in Sant Julià de Lòria

The Andorran Ministry of Education is developing a comprehensive reform project for the Escola Andorra in Sant Julià de Lòria, which covers preschool and primary education levels. Olga Moreno, who oversees facilities in the national education system, told *Altaveu* that the school is the main priority for investments.

The overhaul will take months to complete. It requires first allocating budget funds to commission the design and project plans, followed by a tender process and awarding contracts. "Sant Julià needs a major reform," Moreno said. "It will start with one section and proceed progressively."

In the shorter term, works will soon begin at schools in Andorra la Vella—covering preschool and primary—and Santa Coloma, focusing on second-cycle primary education. These interventions will rehabilitate windows across much of the facilities. Moreno described the scope as extensive, involving "a huge number of windows," and noted it would represent a significant investment.

She highlighted these as the two major projects for the national education system: the long-term priority at Sant Julià and the immediate upgrades in Andorra la Vella and Santa Coloma.

Moreno also pointed to recent improvements at facilities in Pas de la Casa, where last year classrooms, corridors, bathrooms, and painting were upgraded with substantial funding. Maintenance work continues year-round across all schools, handled by dedicated staff in every education system. An additional special investment is planned under the 2026 budget.

Moreno clarified that facility improvements fall under the remit of the Systems Education department, led by Albert Maluquer, rather than her own area.
