The Andorran Data Protection Agency (APDA) plans to start an awareness campaign in the coming weeks, offering practical guidance to help residents review and adjust privacy and security settings on key mobile apps and social platforms.

The campaign will feature a series of educational materials with step-by-step recommendations for widely used services including WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Telegram. APDA seeks to help users understand protection options and gain better command over their personal information.

With social networks and messaging apps now central to daily life for many Andorrans, the agency warns that poorly set privacy controls can lead to risks such as interactions with unknown individuals, unwanted additions to groups, or exposure to unsuitable material.

APDA recommends routine reviews of social media privacy configurations, as well as app permissions on phones—particularly access to sensitive features like cameras, microphones, location services, and contacts. These precautions are especially critical for devices handled by children, who may encounter greater online dangers. The agency stresses pairing family monitoring with built-in controls in operating systems to address these threats.
