The Confraria de Nostra Senyora de Fàtima de la Massana has organised a solidarity mass on 8 March to raise funds for families affected by severe flooding in Portugal earlier this year.
The event will take place at 7:45pm in the Església de Sant Esteve in Andorra la Vella. Proceeds will support those impacted by two deadly storms that struck various parts of Portugal, particularly around Coimbra, from late January to mid-February.
The storms forced the evacuation of around 9,000 people and resulted in 16 deaths. Organisers noted they are not aware of any Andorran-linked families suffering major losses, but stressed the importance of a collective effort to provide aid.
The mass represents a gesture of support from the Andorran community amid the widespread devastation in the affected regions.
