Andorran Police Arrest Four for Drugs at Border, Couple for Nightclub Theft

Andorran police have made several arrests in recent days, including four people caught with small amounts of drugs at the Riu Runer border crossing and a couple accused of stealing cash from a nightclub in Arinsal.

On Thursday, officers detained a 31-year-old female resident with 0.35 grams of cocaine and a 33-year-old male tourist carrying 0.2 grams of the same substance. The following day, Friday, two 23-year-old female tourists were stopped, each in possession of an ecstasy pill weighing approximately 0.50 grams and 0.45 grams respectively. All four incidents occurred at the Spain-Andorra border on the Riu Runer. Authorities described the quantities as minimal, intended for personal use. The individuals were released hours later after swift judicial processing.

In a separate incident early Friday morning, police arrested a 35-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman outside a nightclub in Arinsal on suspicion of theft and resisting officers. The arrests followed a report of €600 in cash missing from a handbag inside the venue. Witness statements identified the pair, who had already been briefly checked by police on site. A search uncovered the exact amount on them. When officers began reading their rights, the suspects reportedly became defiant, uncooperative, and physically resisted, leading to an additional charge related to obstructing public authority.

Police also stopped a 33-year-old driver in the parish of Canillo for driving under the influence, recording a blood alcohol level of 1.89 g/l—well above the legal limit.
