Andorran Police Arrest Multiple for Assaults, Drunk Crash, and Drug Possession

Andorran police have arrested multiple individuals over the weekend for assaults, a serious drunk-driving crash, drug possession, and impaired driving, with additional drug-related detentions reported in recent days ahead of upcoming music festivals.

Sunday night in Pas de la Casa, officers detained a 35-year-old tourist on suspicion of offences against physical and moral integrity after he assaulted a 72-year-old bar owner. The man, who was intoxicated and seeking more alcohol, refused to leave the premises and punched the proprietor, knocking him to the ground and causing a head wound. The victim was hospitalized and remains there.

In Andorra la Vella, a 45-year-old man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly attacking his partner at their home on Saturday night, facing charges of offences against physical and moral integrity. Separately, police detained a 21-year-old in Pas de la Casa after he assaulted another person in a nightclub, causing an injury that required medical attention.

Early Sunday morning around 3:30am, a 30-year-old tourist crashed at kilometre 12.600 on the CG-2 in Canillo with a blood alcohol level of 1.14g/l. He lost control, veered off the road, and struck a mountainside, injuring four passengers. The driver fled but surrendered at a police station around 7am. He faces charges of endangering public safety and four counts of offences against physical and moral integrity for negligent injuries.

Police made six arrests in recent days for public health offences involving drugs. Three men—aged 34, 24, and 26—were detained in Soldeu nightspots from Thursday night into Friday. The 34-year-old had 1g of cocaine and 0.8g of tusi; the 24-year-old was consuming cocaine and possessed an additional 0.5g; the 26-year-old carried 0.7g of tusi. At the Riu Runer border crossing on Sunday, officers stopped three tourists: two men aged 25 and 30 in the morning with 1.4g of tusi, one ecstasy pill, and 2.2g of marijuana; and a 22-year-old in the afternoon with 0.6g of ketamine and 2.26g of hashish.

Since Friday, police arrested four additional drivers—three men and one woman aged 31 to 49—across the road network for alcohol levels ranging from 1.02g/l to 1.79g/l.

In a separate development this week, authorities detained a man at the Pas de la Casa border on Wednesday after discovering a 15g rock of cocaine on him as he attempted to enter from France. Investigators believe the amount indicates intent to sell, given its purity and potential to yield multiple doses. He faces charges of introduction and trafficking of narcotics and has been remanded in custody pending further inquiries into possible buyers or local connections. Two additional tourists were also arrested at the Riu Runer border in recent hours carrying small quantities of drugs, which authorities link to personal use tied to upcoming music festivals.
