Andorran Police Arrest Seven for Drunk Driving, Drugs, and Assaults

Andorran police have arrested seven people this week in separate incidents involving drunk driving, drug possession, licence violations, and assaults.

In the most serious traffic case, a 55-year-old driver collided with a rubbish collection truck on Carrer de les Escoles in Escaldes-Engordany early this morning. Officers recorded his blood alcohol level at 2.14 grams per litre—nearly three times the penal limit—after the crash, which caused material damage but no injuries. He faces charges for driving under the influence.

Police also stopped a 36-year-old man during a routine check on Road General 2 in Encamp on Thursday night. His blood alcohol reading was 1.46 grams per litre, resulting in his arrest on the same charge.

Additional arrests included a 27-year-old man in Andorra la Vella found with 1.6 grams of cocaine. He has been charged with a crime against public health. In Ordino, officers detained a 66-year-old man riding a motorcycle despite a revoked licence, accusing him of a crime against the administration of justice.

This week, police made three arrests related to assaults. A 26-year-old woman and her 29-year-old ex-partner were detained in La Massana for mutual aggression at a residence, facing charges of crimes against physical and moral integrity. Separately, a 36-year-old tourist was arrested after assaulting a couple at a hotel in Escaldes-Engordany. Officers received the alert from the hotel and located him shortly afterwards in Andorra la Vella, where he was taken into custody on similar charges.
