Key Points

  • Provides free apartments near Hospital Clínic, Sant Pau, Vall d'Hebron, and ICO for transplant patients.
  • Expands reach for Andorran residents, reducing economic and emotional treatment strains.
  • Aligns with BHP's social commitments, including Andorran Red Cross elderly projects and social housing.
  • BHP advances sustainable residential developments in Andorra, Catalonia, and Costa del Sol.

Black Horse Partners (BHP), the Andorran- and Catalan-backed property investment platform, has partnered with the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Foundation to support the "A Home Away From Home" programme, which provides free apartments for bone marrow transplant patients and their families near key Barcelona hospitals.

The collaboration, revealed at BHP's annual social gala in the Catalan capital, expands the programme's reach and ensures service continuity. It currently includes eight units located close to major public facilities such as Hospital Clínic, Hospital de Sant Pau, Hospital Vall d'Hebron, and Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) centres. Hospital social services allocate the apartments based on medical and social criteria.

Foundation officials highlighted particular benefits for Andorran residents, who could previously access the programme but will now enjoy broader coverage. The partnership reduces the economic and emotional strain of long-term treatments by offering stable, cost-free housing near medical centres, aiding patients from Andorra and other parts of Spain.

BHP CEO Francesc Bascompte emphasised the initiative's alignment with the company's values. "From our beginnings, we have been clear that social commitment is part of our essence and a link to the communities where we operate," he stated.

This effort builds on BHP's other Andorran social projects, such as working with the Andorran Red Cross on cognitive training for the elderly and helping convert the former Peralba hotel into the principality's first social housing for vulnerable groups.

BHP is also advancing its residential portfolio in Andorra, Catalonia, Girona, the Empordà region, and the Costa del Sol, including the Nacaré Residences development in Estepona, which prioritises high-quality homes with sustainability and wellness features.
