The Andorran government has launched a €125,000 grant scheme to fund research activities by local entities involved in Poctefa 2026 cross-border projects.
Managed by the Ministry of Institutional Relations, Education and Universities, the programme supports Andorran partners or associates in initiatives approved under the second call of the INTERREG VI-A Spain-France-Andorra (Poctefa 2021-2027) framework. This year's total allocation marks a 25% rise from the previous round, reflecting the ministry's commitment to strengthening the national research landscape and expanding international collaboration in research and innovation.
Awards will adhere to standards of transparency, competition and impartiality, with funding approved in full or part depending on each proposal's merit. Eligible organisations include universities, research and technology centres, foundations, companies, public bodies and other socio-economic players from Andorra. Applicants must demonstrate active research contributions within a funded Poctefa project from the second call.
Submissions must be filed online through the government's electronic headquarters between 19 March and 19 June. Projects aligning with national priorities—such as sustainability, tourism and climate change; cultural or natural heritage studies; urban planning and resilience; or education and technology—will receive favourable consideration, particularly those offering clear benefits to Andorra.
While Andorra lies within the Poctefa eligibility zone and can join these EU territorial cooperation programmes, it remains ineligible for direct FEDER funds. These complementary grants bridge that gap, backing domestic research efforts and enhancing the global reach of Andorra's research network.
Further details are available from the Research Area in the Department of Higher Education, Research and Technological Innovation, or via materials on the government's electronic headquarters.
