Authorities have closed a busy street in Pas de la Casa due to the risk of around 100 cubic metres of earth and rocks falling from an unstable slope above it.
The affected road, Carrer de les Pistes—a relatively new route linking the Solana and Bearn roads with Avinguda del Consell General—has been shut since Tuesday afternoon. Local residents alerted firefighters to the hazard, prompting an inspection that confirmed the danger. A specialised firm was then called in, which verified the threat but deemed conditions too poor for immediate action due to bad weather.
Work to clear the unstable section of the non-built slope is now scheduled for Wednesday, weather permitting. Operatives aim to remove the loose material and stabilise the area.
In response, the street has been fully closed to prevent accidents. A nearby hotel has also restricted access, limiting entry and exit to its Sant Jordi street door and blocking the usual Pistes exit, which clients often use.
No injuries or further incidents have been reported, and officials expect the situation to be resolved once clearing operations proceed.
