Escaldes-Engordany Expands Engolasters Camp to 36 Beds

The Escaldes-Engordany parish council has begun interior refurbishment this week on a second cabin at the Engolasters colony house, boosting total capacity to 36 beds for summer educational camps.

The work will add 20 new places in the second cabin, complementing the 16 beds in the first cabin, which has operated since last summer. Budgeted at €73,222, the project is expected to last about two months, ensuring the facility is fully operational for the peak season.

At the same time, the council plans to issue a tender soon for the third phase, focused on constructing a central building for essential services. This will include bathrooms and showers designed for children, plus a kitchen-dining area. Preparatory efforts for these features are already in progress within one of the cabins.

The overall project also covers key infrastructure upgrades, such as a drinking water tank, septic tanks, and water supply and sewage networks linking all sections. These steps position Engolasters as a key site for school outings, group activities, and nature-based learning, with facilities suited to modern demands and future expansion.
