Firefighters in Andorra la Vella extinguished a fire in a construction waste container behind the Novotel hotel on Carrer de la Roda yesterday evening, with no injuries or significant damage reported.
The alert reached the fire service around 6:30pm, when heavy flames and thick smoke were visible from the container near the two hotels on the street. A fire truck and four personnel responded quickly, containing the blaze within about 15 minutes. The fire service confirmed the container held construction debris, though the cause remains unknown.
The incident prompted the closure of one southbound lane on Carrer Prat de la Creu at its junction with Carrer de la Roda. Local traffic agents managed diversions during the operation.
