Grup Pyrénées delivered a new donation of clothing, toys, storybooks and other essential items to the Patronat de Dames de Nostra Senyora de Meritxell on Thursday. The material will be distributed to children, adults and people who have recently arrived in Andorra and lack basic resources, and is intended to cover needs throughout the year — including Christmas and other special dates.
Patronat president Cristina Cerqueda said the initiative is especially important because many usable items otherwise go unused, and through this channel “children and adults in Andorra, or people who arrive with nothing, can receive what they need.” She stressed that needs persist beyond the Christmas period and that even a small gift, such as a storybook or a toy, “can make a child very happy on their birthday.”
Cerqueda also noted that, while this is the first time the donation has been made public, the Patronat and Grup Pyrénées have been working together on the initiative for two years and that the current delivery makes that work effective. The Patronat praised Pyrénées’s involvement, saying it will help them reach many more families facing hardship.
The donation event included the group’s director of operations, Octavi Bardera, and the department stores director, Josep Maria Charques.
