ICÒNIC Sports Centre Construction Halted Until Funding Secured

Construction work on ICÒNIC, the high-performance sports centre planned at the summit of Port d'Envalira, remains halted with no resumption date set until guarantees of financial sustainability and solidity are secured.

Turi Mora, president of Univers Bomosa—the entity promoting the project—told *Altaveu* that advanced talks are underway with financial institutions and investors to secure the necessary backing. "The project's viability depends on finalising these agreements, and there is real interest on the table," he said. The works are paused temporarily while this new funding phase concludes, with Mora emphasising that there is no intention to abandon the initiative.

The delays stem from the project's complexity and sharp rises in construction costs across the sector, according to Mora. Despite setbacks, he insisted ICÒNIC retains strong appeal, holding national interest status and offering significant potential to place Andorra on the global high-performance sports map.

Univers Bomosa is working urgently to close the new investment framework, after which a clear execution timeline will be established. Officials are growing concerned as the concession period ticks down, prompting questions over the project's future. Mora described relations with the administrations as fluid and constructive, noting shared unease and a collective commitment to solutions. "This is a shared responsibility between the private and public sectors," he added, highlighting ongoing open dialogue with institutions to ensure viability and turn ICÒNIC into a national asset.
