A man was injured this morning in Arinsal after falling around four metres into the Riu Pollós at Puiol del Piu while using a quad bike equipped with a snow plough to clear snow in front of a hotel.
The worker had been pushing snow towards the river when he fell through an open protective barrier, the Massana fire service chief of watch explained. He complained of ankle pain and showed mild hypothermia symptoms due to the low temperatures.
Firefighters responded with a truck, an ambulance, and the mountain rescue group vehicle. A police unit and an SUM ambulance also attended the scene. The man was taken to Hospital Nostra Senyora de Meritxell, where he remains stable pending tests, medical sources confirmed.
