A key phase of a signage audit for Ordino's outlying neighbourhoods has been completed, with new illuminated signs now marking the Riberamunt villages.
The parish council of Ordino has installed robust identification signs in Sornàs, Ansalonga, La Cortinada, Arans, Llorts and El Serrat. The project, awarded through public tender for €50,946.62, addresses recommendations from an earlier audit targeting areas beyond the main parish centre.
These structures aim to improve orientation for visitors, delivery drivers and emergency services while boosting the villages' tourist and heritage appeal. Most signs stand on private land, secured through no-cost collaboration agreements with owners.
Each features a corten steel frame with local stone infill and village names in large letters—around 40cm high—mounted on a mesh cage. Heights vary from 2 to 2.4 metres, tailored to site and name length, with integrated lighting for day and night visibility. Designs prioritise landscape integration and longevity.
In Llorts, the sign differs slightly: it mounts directly on an existing stone wall without the stone cage, allowing for larger letters.
The audit also identified needs for better main road signage at junctions, addressed in works carried out between 2023 and 2024.
The signs occupy highly visible spots along the general road, ensuring clear identification from a distance. Officials emphasised that the upgrades make Riberamunt's neighbourhoods unmistakable.
