More than 1,000 people have registered for Andorra's public affordable rental housing programme, with the National Housing Institute receiving around 50 applications each month.
The backlog highlights strong demand for the country's growing stock of public flats, according to figures reported by RTVA. Officials view the current number of applicants positively, as it aligns with the supply now becoming available.
This week, the institute opened applications for 24 flats in the Ribasol building in Arinsal. Further expansion is underway, including construction of Borda Nova 2 on Terra Vella street in Andorra la Vella. That project involves a €10.6 million investment to deliver 42 units within 35 months. In addition, 44 flats at Borda Nova 1 are due for completion by the end of this year.
Authorities anticipate addressing more requests as these properties come online, easing pressure on the waiting list.
