Special Olympics Andorra has renewed its collaboration agreement with Lions Andorra for the second consecutive year, securing a €5,000 donation to support sports and wellbeing for people with intellectual disabilities in the country.

The funds will primarily cover the daily operations of Special Olympics Andorra, with a focus on its psychological support service for athletes, their families, and coaches. Jordi Mora, president of Special Olympics Andorra, highlighted the donation's importance in addressing essential needs. "It boosts sport for people with intellectual disabilities and covers key aspects of our daily work, enabling us to provide full support to athletes and families," Mora said. He emphasised the psychologist's vital role, noting that the money ensures continuity for this service amid growing demands.

Lions Andorra, part of the global Lions Clubs International network with 1.5 million members across 200 countries, selected Special Olympics after a member vote. Vice-president Sergi Martín explained that the club considered several partnership options among its 30 members and chose this one both last year and now. "We were very pleased with the results from the first collaboration, so we repeated it," Martín said. The organisation aims to enhance civic, social, and moral wellbeing in Andorran communities by partnering with groups making significant local contributions.

Martín praised Special Olympics for its outstanding work supporting those in need. "We seek out entities doing incredible things for the Andorran community, and this is our second year partnering with them—we're delighted to do so." The renewal underscores ongoing commitment to inclusive sports and mental health resources in Andorra.
