Tourist Released After Crash Injures Andorran Woman on CG-2

Police have released on provisional liberty a 41-year-old tourist arrested after a crash that struck a 24-year-old female resident in Vall d'Incles, leaving her with serious leg injuries.

The incident took place shortly before 4pm on Sunday at kilometre 15.950 of the CG-2 in the Canillo parish, close to the Bloc Centre d'Incles building. The woman, who had recently moved to Andorra, was unloading items from the boot of her properly parked car when the Spanish-registered DS, driven by the tourist heading uphill toward Soldeu with his family aboard, veered to the right. Investigators believe the driver lost control for reasons still under review. The vehicle first hit the woman before slamming into the rear of her stationary car, trapping one of her legs between the two. She sustained severe lower-limb trauma, including a fractured femur that required surgical intervention. Emergency responders extracted her at the scene and rushed her to Nostra Senyora de Meritxell Hospital.

The response drew police, firefighters, Servei d'Urgències Mèdiques crews, and Canillo traffic agents. With skiers returning from the slopes, the crash led to heavy delays in both directions until roads reopened.

The driver, who tested negative for alcohol, received treatment for minor injuries before his hospital discharge Sunday afternoon. Police detained him that evening at headquarters due to his non-resident status. Around 3:45pm Monday, he appeared before the duty batlle, who granted provisional release after he pledged that he or his insurer would cover any liability.

He faces charges of serious negligent injury. Police have shared no additional investigation updates.

The crash is among recent CG-2 incidents, including a Saturday collision at km 15.100 that injured a driver and an overnight pedestrian hit at the Ransol roundabout.

Separately, police are probing a January 29 hit-and-run allegation after a woman reported being struck by a car at a temporary pedestrian crossing on Carrer de la Unió near the Km0 roundabout. She claims the driver stopped briefly around 4pm as she crossed slowly post-surgery, then restarted, clipping her outstretched arm and causing a bruise. The vehicle did not stop to assist, though she photographed its plate at the nearby roundabout. Officers confirm her complaint has reached investigators; she seeks witnesses via social media, noting a lack of cameras in the area.
