Andorra's Head of Government Xavier Espot and Foreign Affairs Minister Imma Tor visited Monaco on Thursday to celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, signing a protocol of understanding and agreeing on a roadmap for joint projects in economy, tourism, health, and sports.

The delegation met Prince Albert II at the Prince's Palace, followed by working sessions with Monaco's Minister of State Christophe Mirmand and Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Minister Isabelle Berro-Amadeï. Discussions advanced institutional links and cooperation on innovation, youth, sports, European matters, and multilateral coordination, including small states' roles in global forums.

In economics, the sides examined opportunities from the double taxation avoidance agreement, in force since July 2023, to encourage investments and business ties. Tourism talks focused on responsible management amid heavy visitor flows—9 million in Andorra in 2025 and 348,258 international tourists in Monaco in 2024—leading to plans for linking the countries' tourism agencies to exchange strategies. Health cooperation built on existing nursing student placements at Princess Grace Hospital, with commitments for technical support on hospital expansions.

Espot also engaged Monégasque business leaders at a MonacoTech event, accompanied by Andorra Business representatives from health, dermopharmacy, digital, and AI sectors. He outlined Andorra's shift to a more open, diversified economy, noting over 17,000 registered companies, an internationally aligned tax system, IMF membership, and a forecasted 2.6% growth rate. He emphasised investor appeal through sustainability, institutional stability, legal certainty, and quality of life.

During the trip—Espot's first official visit to Monaco—he greeted Andorra's under-12 rugby team at the 14th Sainte-Dévote Tournament at Stade Louis-II, hosted by the Monégasque Rugby Federation and Princess Charlene Foundation with 24 teams from various countries.

The government described the visit as a key step in strengthening bilateral relations and identifying fresh collaboration paths.
