Andorra's Co-Princes to Jointly Preside Over Historic Consell General Session During Macron Visit

**For the first time in Andorra's history, the two Co-Princes will jointly preside over a session of the Consell General during French President Emmanuel Macron's visit on 27-28 April.**

Macron will arrive in the Principality on the afternoon of 27 April, with the main institutional event organised by the Consell General set for 28 April at 11am in Plaça Príncep Benlloch, in front of Andorra la Vella town hall. Around 1,000 schoolchildren from all educational systems will welcome him there. He will walk along Carrer de la Vall to the main entrance of Casa de la Vall, where he will be greeted by the Episcopal Co-Prince, Josep-Lluís Serrano Pentinat.

Inside, the two Co-Princes will greet authorities and sign the Book of Honour in the syndics' office. They will then preside over the traditional session—a historic first, with both seated together in the parliamentary chamber. Deputy Syndic Sandra Codina described the moment as highly significant, noting it would project a powerful image of unity.

Síndic General Carles Ensenyat will open the session with a speech, followed by one from Macron. Councillors will wear traditional tricorn hats and gambeto outfits, while syndics don bicorn hats and capes. The event will then move outside for a flag-honouring ceremony in Plaça del Consell General and an official photo on the steps of Casa de la Vall. Security measures will close the square to the public.

The full programme is expected to last about an hour to an hour and a half. Afterwards, Macron will head to Plaça del Poble to address citizens.

The Junta de Presidents meeting, which detailed these plans, also approved the agenda for the 30 April session—12 items including bills on nationality law amendments, civil registry, workplace gender equality, general tourism, and a Social Democratic Party amendment to the rental 'unfreezing' bill.

Legislative assignments were distributed to commissions: Economy for the rental contracts bill (2027-2030); Education, Research, Culture, Youth and Sports for trademarks law changes, archives and documentary heritage, and higher education quality agency fees (pending admission); Social Affairs and Equality for children's and adolescents' rights amendments; and Justice, Interior and Institutional Affairs for penal code reforms. The next Junta meeting is scheduled for 4 May at 4pm.
