Andorran Social Democrats Challenge Government on Housing Crisis and Coliving

Social Democratic councillors Laia Moliné and Pere Baró have filed formal questions with the Andorran government, challenging its approach to the housing crisis, particularly the coliving model and uncompleted infrastructure projects.

Moliné's inquiries focus on ensuring coliving—shared accommodations often used by young professionals or temporary residents—serves only as a short-term, supplementary measure rather than a permanent substitute for adequate housing. She demands clear criteria from the government to prevent it from becoming a structural solution.

Baró, the party's deputy leader and a general councillor, has also raised concerns over remarks by Economy, Presidency, Work and Housing Minister Conxita Marsol on 17 April, in which she presented coliving as a viable option. His questions seek guarantees that it will remain strictly temporary and complementary.

Separately, Moliné has requested details on infrastructure projects announced over the past decade that remain unbuilt or severely delayed. She wants a list of initiatives in mobility, housing, and public facilities that failed to materialise, along with specific reasons for each shortfall despite repeated government pledges.

Baró has further asked for detailed statistics on rental housing subsidies since 2023, including annual figures for applications, approvals, rejections, and denial rationales. He also seeks breakdowns of beneficiaries by age, family structure, parish, and income levels to assess policy effectiveness amid recent eligibility changes that have disqualified some prior recipients.

The Social Democrats argue these measures have fallen short in addressing Andorra's acute housing shortages. The government has yet to reply.
