Nearly 100 cocaine users summoned to court in Andorra after dealer’s phone data dump

Around 100 people face fines for cocaine possession after police analyzed a drug dealer’s phone seized during a routine breathalyzer stop last October. The first 20 appeared at the Batllia courthouse in Andorra la Vella on Friday, with others scheduled over several days.

The case stems from an October 14 nighttime breathalyzer check in Escaldes-Engordany. Officers stopped a 26-year-old man driving a car and found five wraps containing nearly four grams of cocaine, plus a sixth with traces of the drug. A vehicle search uncovered more than 500 euros in cash, mostly in 60-euro bundles. At the police station, the man consented to a home search, where officers—assisted by drug-sniffing dogs—discovered three sealed packages totaling 228 grams of cocaine, a precision scale, about 50 small wraps for dosing, and other trafficking paraphernalia. They also seized 21.7 grams of marijuana and 10.4 grams of hashish.

The man, who lived irregularly in Andorra due to prior deportations and lack of residency authorization from unrelated offenses, remains in custody at La Comella prison. Analysis of his phone revealed contacts with numerous clients, leading to summonses for about 90 consumers, mostly for personal use. Many are represented by public defenders, assigned four cases each.

Most are expected to accept a standard penalty order: a one-month conditional nighttime arrest, suspended for two years, plus a 500-euro fine. These quick resolutions will precede the dealer’s trial. Police had prior suspicions of his involvement in drug sales but had not caught him before.

The 232 grams of cocaine seized far exceeds typical amounts in Andorra.
