Andorra PS Demands Government Data on Residence Permit Revocations

The Social Democratic Party (PS) parliamentary group has filed a formal information request with the Government through the Sindicatura, pressing for statistics and guidelines on the use of an omnibus law provision that allows revocation or annulment of residence permits if a family member lacks legal status.

Deputy group president Pere Baró spearheaded the move, which advances the PS's parliamentary oversight of the migration reform. It follows a press conference last week where Baró and Gerard Alís, a PS executive member and the party's government candidate, criticized inconsistencies in the executive's migration approach. They pointed to a gap between its claims of an open Andorra and policies risking family unity, while urging clarity on implementation standards and family consequences.

Facing no reply to those calls, the PS has escalated via official channels in the Consell General.

The request specifically asks for the number of cases initiated since the omnibus law took effect, individuals and families impacted, any minors involved, proceedings ending in permit revocations, and instances leading to departures from Andorra or expulsions.

It also calls for internal documents or instructions detailing the Government's proportionality standards, plus any options provided to families before such decisions.

The PS deems prior Government comments inadequate, pledging to leverage all oversight tools to ensure migration measures uphold proportionality, legal certainty, and family protection.
