Spanish PM Pedro Sánchez to Spend Holiday Weekend in Andorra's Soldeu

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has cancelled a planned private trip to Andorra this weekend, following media coverage of the intended visit.

The decision came late Wednesday afternoon during a 5pm meeting at the Moncloa presidential complex, Spanish outlet ABC reported, as cited by Diari d'Andorra. Sánchez had initially delayed departure until Friday midday but ultimately scrapped the stay after the plans drew public attention.

The trip, set for Thursday through Sunday 30 August, would have seen Sánchez and his wife Begoña Gómez stay at a Soldeu resort. Advance bookings had been made, but the cancellation followed reports of the low-profile getaway, which sparked political and media interest.

In parallel, the Spanish government advanced Sánchez's congressional appearance on the Ceuta migrant crisis. The dedicated session, originally slated for 9 September, will now occur on 3 September. Sánchez had been due to resume his political schedule on Monday 31 August after summer holidays.

Initial reports had indicated Sánchez arrived in Andorra on Thursday for the Sport Hotel Hermitage & Spa, with a security team coordinating locally and no public events planned. Those accounts, now superseded, noted prior visits to Soldeu and other Andorran sites like Les Pardines amid ongoing pressures including Ceuta.
