Creand Fundació Draws 1,000 Seniors to New Tech and Leisure Courses in Andorra

Creand Fundació launched its new season of educational and leisure activities for people over 60 on Monday at the Espai Creand Fundació in Andorra la Vella, drawing close to 1,000 registrations.

Joan Casas, manager of the space, said the response has far exceeded expectations, with many courses and activities already full. He highlighted the programme's variety, spanning new technologies, mobile phone use, language lessons, and outdoor options such as hiking and golf, alongside talks on financial education and health.

This season introduces fresh digital-focused sessions, including safe internet navigation to tackle online misinformation, artificial intelligence usage, and virtual reality experiences via a Modernism architecture tour. Established classes persist, covering basic computing for file and document handling on virtual platforms, memory enhancement through IT, graphic design, and video editing with digital tools.

Casas explained that the foundation tailors its offerings to address emerging issues like AI, ensuring participants stay current with tech progress. High demand has created waiting lists, prompting frequent course repeats to broaden access.

The top draws include language courses, mobile tutorials, AI sessions, general talks, and Andorran history, which has 150 sign-ups.

Participant Toni Masip, retired since 2013, has taken part in prior hiking activities and this year signed up for Catalan to refine his spelling. He noted that his generation spoke the language but lacked formal schooling in it.

Francesc Infante, returning for mobile phone classes, commended the teaching quality. Instructors cover advanced features he had overlooked, explaining them accessibly and thoroughly.
