Escaldes-Engordany to Send Rental Contracts to Government This Week After Delay

Escaldes-Engordany parish council will send the government several rental contracts this week, following a missed deadline last Friday due to timing issues.

Cònsol Major Rosa Gili confirmed the plan today, stating the council has a few contracts prepared for imminent delivery. The data, long sought by the government, is essential for enforcing housing rules and tracking rent increases. Gili noted she had not spoken with Minister Conxita Marsol but had discussed the matter directly with Head of Government Xavier Espot. They agreed on the need to work together, she said.

Gili stressed the parish's consistent readiness to cooperate with other administrations, not only on housing but across various issues. She described dialogue as the preferable path, calling it more productive for both the work required and inter-institutional ties.

Espot confirmed awareness of the upcoming submission. He revealed the government had offered to provide personnel on special assignment to assist with data collection, in response to the parish's reported staffing shortages—a difficulty he said extends beyond Escaldes-Engordany.

On the minister's prior announcement of potential legal steps against the parish, Espot explained that such processes start with an out-of-court demand. Given the data transfer, he hopes for an amicable resolution that avoids court and prevents complications for all involved.
